Happy Women’s Day

In case you haven’t seen everywhere on social media, it is International Women’s Day. I was going to write about Marmite, but I decided to quote some women – it seemed a bit more on point. If you have been bombarded with quotes, I’m sorry. If not, maybe you can be inspired. I just thought spreading a little encouragement is always a good thing.

Let’s start with Mary Kom-

“Don’t let anyone tell you you’re weak because you’re a woman.” – Mary Kom

Mary was the first female boxer to win a medal in 6 championships. How cool is that?

“Women will change the nature of power, rather than power changing the nature of women.” -Bella Abzug

Bella was an activist.

“A woman is like a tea bag – you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water.” -Eleanor Roosevelt

Eleanor was the longest serving First Lady and an activist.

“We cannot all succeed when half of us are held back.” -Malala Yousafzai

Malala is an education activist for women. She survived being shot in the head by men who hated women getting an education.

“The education and empowerment of women throughout the world cannot fail to result in a more caring, tolerant, just and peaceful life for all.” -Aung San Suu Kyi

Aung is a Burmese politician.

“Beauty is about being comfortable in your own skin. It’s about knowing and accepting who you are.” – Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen is a comedian and TV host.

“There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish.” – Michelle Obama

Michelle was a pretty awesome First Lady.

“Girls should never be afraid to be smart.” – Emma Watson

Emma is an actress and activist.

“Women, if the soul of the nation is to be saved, I believe that you must become its soul.” -Coretta Scott King

Coretta was an author, activist, and civil rights leader.

“For whatever reason, I didn’t succumb to the stereotype that science wasn’t for girls. I got encouragement from my parents. I never ran into a teacher or a counselor who told me that science was for boys. A lot of my friends did.” -Sally Ride

Sally was the first American woman to go to space.

Let’s help our girls to grow up like Sally Ride, with not stereotypes and limits. Only encouragement. Encourage the women in your life.
